Sir_Roach's Murder Mystery

All sorts of drama unfold in Pickering Brook and environs.  Being a wooded area, the odd human body is occasionally found presenting the local police with a puzzle to solve.  But here is your chance to be the detective, Officer Dibble, view the evidence and solve the crime!

I will try and provide all the information which may be relevant.

Pickering Brook is an area where Australian marsupials exist in the wild.  Relevantly we have the bandicoot and the possum.  The bandicoot, as far as I know is the Southern Brown Bandicoot (Isoodon obesulus).  That animal is seen quite commonly day or night.  Here is an MPEG of a bandicoot performing his ablutions.  I have no reason to suspect that this particular bandicoot played a part in this mystery:-------->      snozwash.MPG

We also have what I believe is the Common Brushtail Possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) which is virtually never seen during the day because they are nearly completely nocturnal.

On 19 August 2004, I saw a possum on my verandah outside the kitchen window.  Those pictures are on my garden page (the two pictures down at the bottom of the page).

That is unusual because, as I have said, possums are almost exclusively nocturnal.  However, the animal seemed alert enough (although not very timid) and well groomed.   It looked healthy.

On 20 August 2004 I had another possum around at about midday.   I do not think it was the same one because I think it was smaller than the one I saw the previous day.  It moved lugubriously, rested its nose on the ground for minutes at a time and permitted itself to be touched although it obviously didn't like it.
