Morning was of course Good Friday and after breakfast we waited at the camp for others to join us who could not get away on Thursday.
At left cars are clustered under trees.
At right, as usual, the kids find a way to have fun.
Travelling in a convoy of many vehicles, 14 in this case, requires a bit of organisation. The convoy leader remains the same as does the 'tail-end Charlie' but at every turn the vehicle in second place stops and 'marks' the corner ensuring that all the following vehicles got the same way. That marker then re-joins the procession immediately before the tail-end Charlie. In this way everyone except the first and last vehicles gradually moves up to the front before moving to the back again.
It sounds foolproof but in the last morning we managed to lose 'Twocan' so we stopped for a cuppa which turned into an early lunch.
Reunited and fed we travelled on passed Mount Caroline and Mount Stirling to Kokerbin Rock which we were assured is the 3rd biggest rock in Australia behind Mt Augusta and Ayer's Rock.
After pitching tents there was time for an ale or two before heading to the top of the rock to view the sunset. We could drive to within 250 metres of the summit. The last three pictures in the second row were taken away from the setting sun. It is a phenomenon I have noticed before.
We then returned to camp suitably awed. There were no showers here but there was water available. There was also a site for a fire so in the evening the camp ovens came out and stew was on the menu, in my case beef with TLC.
Passage for the stew was prepared with a few ales and it was accompanied by a rather excellent South Australian red. Sadly, I was so occupied with gastronomic delights that I neglected my photographer's duties.
